  Perhaps I'm the only one who thinks that the Nobel Peace Prize is nothing more than an absurd joke?  Look at the history of the winners and you'll see what I mean.  There are quite a few examples of individuals who were given the prize for solely political reasons, and equally as many who never received it but should have.  (Gandhi anyone?) 
  My favorite example is Charles Gates Dawes in 1925.  Look into his history and you'll find that one of the reasons named was his origination of "The Dawes Plan" which was what outlined the massive reparations Germany was forced to pay after WW1 which directly led to the German situation and the rise of the Nazi party.
