Are you a Family Medicine Physician with a passion for clinical transformation? A thought leader in the areas of clinical effectiveness and quality?  Our client, Baylor Health Care System (BHCS), a faith-based not-for-profit integrated Health Care Delivery System with 11 hospitals, more than 60 Primary Care, Specialty Care and Senior Health Centers, and over 3,400 employed and affiliated physicians seeks:A Clinical Scholar in Family MedicineThis is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader and a research-oriented Family Medicine Practitioner.  The BHCS Institute for Health Care Research and Improvement was founded in 2000 to conduct research related to clinical effectiveness and quality and to translate these findings into health care improvement across BHCS as well as disseminate them nationally and internationally.  The institute currently engages Clinical Scholars to pursue research funded through NIH/AHRQ and other peer-review sources as well as private-sector research grants. The Institute provides an environment strongly conducive to this research, featuring exceptional in-house support including biostatisticians and data analysts, epidemiologists, health economists and policy analysts, research project managers, medical writers, and grant developers, located in more than 20,000 square feet of working space in a new state-of-the-art facility.Responsibilities:Demonstrate strong clinical success as a Family Medicine Practitioner. You will be part of an Institute for Health Care Research and Improvement that conducts research related to clinical effectiveness and quality and translates these findings into health care improvements across the healthcare delivery system as well as disseminating them nationally and internationally. You will provide the intellectual capital and leadership in Family Medicine and related fields.    You will work in the design, funding, conduct, peer-review publication and dissemination of high-impact scholarly research that generates evidence that will be used by health care improvement operational teams to advance clinical care;GOAL:  to be the most trusted source of comprehensive health services by 2010.Additional Responsibilities:You will work approximately 50% clinically and have the balance of your time protected for research program development.You will hold an appointment with the Residency program and a small portion of your time will be committed to teaching residents and medical students.Have a significant record of and potential for peer-review funding, preferable from NIH/AHRQ. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with an advanced degree (masters or doctorate) in biostatistics, economics, epidemiology, or health policy.Preference given for demonstrated clinical informatics research experience with an ambulatory care electronic health record.
