Women’s Health Technology
Women have very specific health differences from men. This is universally accepted in the medical community and throughout the general public. On the sad side, while most people recognize the differences between male and female health, they don’t necessarily know that many medical technologies exist that are specific to their gender and that they may be much more effective then more universal technologies.
One common technology made to help women is the mammogram. This is a very well know technology for diagnosing breast cancer among other diseases that effect women. Even though mammography is a tried and true (and very necessary) form of early breast detection, it is subject to failures. Small, aggressive cancers (like IBC – Inflammatory Breast Cancer) can often go undetected by mammograms. This is where a different technology as a considerably better chance of early detection. This different technology is Breast MRI.
Breast MRI uses the standard MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and adapts it for scanning the breast. This type of scan is not as evasive as mammography and can give a much better indication of small and virulent cancers. The following video is a “patient perspective” of the Breast MRI experience.
