Severe back pain limited Joe Dorman’s active lifestyle. He couldn’t walk for 30 feet without intense pain.
Now, he’s riding his bicycle again and getting ready to play golf.
Richard Burg, M.D., determined the cause and utilized minimally invasive technology at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen to perform a disk fusion through a small incision in Dorman’s side.
He then used very small incisions in the patient’s back to insert screws and rods to complete the procedure.
Dorman says the healing time is faster, and the recovery time after the surgery and through the rehabilitation process is extremely quick with a minimally invasive procedure.
Back surgery is just one of the many minimally invasive procedures available in the hospitals of Texas Health Resources.
